"QEST mini" is a small but powerful LED sequences controller with plenty of effects with dimming capabilities. He has 8 output channels with a maximum current up to 500mA per channel. For higher output current an external amplifier is used or powerful pulse width modulation (PWM) constant current driver. Each output can be dimmable (5-bit PWM) with 4 levels of intensity of light: dark (0%), weak (15%), medium (50%), bright (100%) with the ability to be different for each channel. For example - gradually increasing and decreasing the brightness; bright point on a paler background and vice versa and many others. Rated supply voltage are from 8VDC to 30VDC. Maximum supply voltage 35VDC. For better performance and stability of the light intensity of LEDs, LED strip or modules we recommend stabilized voltage source (such as switching power supply, DC/DC converter, voltage stabilizer) against just rectified and filtered supply voltage from magnetic transformer! When using constant current drivers for LED control circuitry is advisable to connect the output of the controller (low level of the open collector output from NPN bipolar junction transistor) to the on/off control or modulation input of the driver if he has one! If on/off control input is with different on an off polarity an inversed polarity sequences are programmed in the "QEST mini" microcontroller on request. Please refer to the driver manufacturers recommendations for on/off control applications. If the driver chip does not have an on/off control input a negative power supply input of driver could be switched for control the lights. If you are experienced technician or engineer you could manipulate the oscillator of constant current driver chip with positive voltage not exceed 5V but some additional modifications of driver needed. Driver must not be powered with a voltage higher than maximum output voltage of the controller - 60V! Controller "QEST mini" comes with 4 sample preprogrammed different firmware versions (program sequences) of about 25-30 sequences. But it can be programmed with a set of sequences defined by the client on request. Some specifics of possibilities of controller and some rules for creating a custom sequences: Number of repetitions of a single sequence - from 1 to 31 Number of steps in sequence - as needed, limited only by chip memory capacity. Number of sequences - to fill the memory (tested with 35 sequences of 20 steps each, using 60% of memory). Possibility of three modes selected via function key: 1 * Auto sequential - as they are arranged in sequence programming 2 * Auto random - selects sequences randomly 3 * Manual - single stage, one of opportunity for all with a consistent choice of one particular. Speed (retention time of a single step of the sequence) from 0.01 to 2.54 seconds. May be different for every single step. In need of greater retention time of a step in the sequence is repeated with the same maximum time + extra. time while the total duration of detention meet the needs – t retention = (t max. xn) + t further. t hold - time that we need to display a single step n - number of repetitions with a maximum time t additional - time to add for adjust to the desired value Example: Desired retention time of 36 seconds for a step (2.54 x 14) + 0.44 = 35.56 + 0.44 = 36
